Prepares patients for examination and treatment, including taking vitals and recording patient history

Inputs and maintains appropriate EMR documentation

Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment

Prepares injections, removes and applies splints and casts, and applies dressings
-
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatment, including sterilization techniques

Assists providers in preparing for minor office procedures
-
Assists with scheduling of tests and treatment
-
Obtains prior authorization as needed for referrals and documents authorization status in EMR
-
Triage MA calls, including directing non-clinical inquiries appropriately

Handles pre-op and post-op calls, providing guidance and patient education

Closely monitors voicemail and phone calls, screening and routing messages appropriately

Maintains inventory and stocks exam rooms

Assists in care and maintenance of equipment and exam rooms

All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Familiarity with equipment and instruments necessary to deliver patient care
- Knowledge of handling blood products and disposing of contaminated items
- Knowledge of universal precautions
- Ability to take vital signs and record results
- Understand/Perform training on electronic medical record software
- Continue to expand knowledge of electronic medical record software as updates occur
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current CPR certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience in medical office
