As a Senior Patient Services Specialist with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
- Provide coverage at other clinics within the region for callouts and other planned paid time off.
- Act as the primary trainer for all new hires, mentor and train all Patient Service Specialists on any process improvement measures, and updated company policy and procedures.
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner, responding to routine requests for information.
- Answer phone in prompt, courteous and helpful manner, screening, and routing calls as needed, create phone note in the patient electronic medical record, and/or providing information to patients.
- Ensure presence of scanned patient ID and insurance card, patients’ pictures in EMR, confirm patient demographics and paperwork for accuracy and completion.
- Schedule provider appointments correctly and accurately pursuant to provider scheduling protocols.
- Notify patient of appropriate/required arrival time for appointment (based on type of appointment) and of required items to bring to appointment (insurance cards, photo ID, etc.)
- Ensure proper authorization and / or valid referral documentation has been received and review scheduled appointments to include appointment date, time, location and provider.
- Register patients in EMR as applicable.
- Collect patient account balances, co-insurance, and copays, deductibles or estimates self-pay rates; prepare daily batch, deposits, etc.
- Direct patient questions and/or complaints to appropriate department.
- Maintain and organize lobby area at the end of the day, opening and closing duties.
- Assist with proper routing of incoming faxes and documents.
- Maintain medical records.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer / patient service.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of computer programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2- 5 years medical front office, billing, or other administrative experience; with Proficiency in authorizations, eligibility, and benefits in a medical office setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- More than 3 years of direct experience in a medical front office or billing office and Proficiency in authorizations, eligibility, and benefits in a medical office setting
- Bilingual is a plus.
