Director of Revenue Cycle

As a Director of Revenue Cycle with OrthoArizona, you will get to: 
  • Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relations in dealing with others, including patients/families, physicians, direct reports, leaders and external stakeholders. 
  • Responsible for building effective internal partnerships and promoting collaborative relationships with leadership and other stakeholders, including operations, finance, payor contracting, credentialing, information technology, legal, and compliance.  
  • Develop tools for clinical operations to enhance their skills in detecting both current and future performance issues. Ensure that appropriate documentation and education materials are up to date and identifies any educational needs and communicates to the appropriate leader for development. 
  • Direct and oversee the operations of Revenue Cycle Management including, patient billing, medical coding, collections, and related activities. 
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures applicable to billing and revenue cycle operations. 
  • Maintain a strong understanding of revenue cycle metrics and lead the team in building plans to support operational departments to achieve best practice performance through strong analytical capabilities, process improvement identification, and technology enhancements. 
  • Establish automated capture of productivity standards/dashboards; ensures days to bill, days in accounts receivables and uncollectable charges/adjustments are within established departmental goals.  
  • Develop, implement, and manage quality control, follow-up, reconciliation, and audit procedures to ensure accuracy in coding, data entry, cash receivables, and billing. Responsible for the oversight of predictive and automated solutions that proactively monitor for potential denials and initiate value-added actions that revenue cycle, operations, and clinical teams can take to prevent denials. Provides analysis and data-driven recommendations to senior management. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and directives from regulatory agencies, governmental bodies, and third parties. 
  • Coordinate revenue management orientation and educational activities of clinical personnel including providers, management, and staff about coding and other outstanding revenue cycle issues. 
  • Represent the Department on various OrthoArizona committees. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) or 5 years of revenue cycle experience in a management role. 
  • 3 years leadership experience. 
  • Extensive knowledge of medical billing rules and regulations. 
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification. 
  • Sound knowledge of government and commercial payors.  
  • Presentation skills, ability to speak with confidence to large groups communicating data into usable information. 
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Dedication to the development of others and willingness to coach and mentor people as necessary to promote their personal and professional growth. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior experience and understanding of Athena Practice system. 
  • Certified Professional Auditor (CPMA) certification. 
  • Strong inpatient and outpatient medical coding and billing audit experience. 
  • Prior musculoskeletal/Orthopedic billing experience preferred.
